Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
• Name — displayed on your profile
• Authentication tokens — when you sign in with Apple, we receive an identity token from Apple. We do not receive or store your Apple ID password.

Dance Preferences

• Dance styles and skill levels — you may optionally set your preferred dance styles (e.g., Salsa, Bachata, Zouk) and skill level to personalize your event feed.

Event Interactions

• RSVPs, saves, and reviews — we store your event interactions to show your saved events, RSVPs, and reviews you've written.

Device Permissions

• Photo library — used only when you choose to scan a flyer image to create an event. Images are uploaded to our servers for processing and stored as event flyer images. We do not access your photos without your explicit action.

Automatically Collected

• Usage data — we may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app experience. This does not include personal information.

How We Use Your Information

• Personalization — your dance preferences are used to recommend relevant events
• Account management — your email is used for sign-in and account recovery
• Event creation — if you're an organizer, your profile is linked to events you create
• Reviews — reviews you write are displayed publicly alongside your display name

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on Amazon Web Services). We use row-level security policies to ensure users can only access their own data. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — database and authentication
• Apple Sign-In — authentication
• Expo — app updates and distribution

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Retention

• Your account data is retained as long as your account is active.
• You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.
• Event reviews may be retained in anonymized form after account deletion.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data

Children's Privacy

DanceMap is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
